48 years ago in the Mad River Valley you couldn't buy a glass to drink out of that wasn't already full of jelly. Longing for glassware a bit more refined than a jelly jar was what prompted Jackie Rose to open a kitchen store. She opened in 1965 in the village at the base of The Sugarbush ski resort. In 1985 Jackie recognized another need and decided to expand with a second location in Waitsfield. She bought an 1834 Methodist Meeting House, carefully restored it and it has been an institution ever since. The Store is recognized as the place in the Mad River Valley to purchase exceptional gifts. Jackie's ability to sense the needs of her customers and stay a top of new trends is a true gift.
With the popularity of the Food Network and her grandchildren all grown up, Jackie came up with the brilliant idea to convert the kid's room at The Store into a kitchen where cooking classes could be held. Once again her innovative ideas have resulted in a beautiful space that welcomes all who want to learn, create and eat.
